Rueber, Brownlee named MVSU HEADWAE honorees

ITTA BENA, Miss. 鈥擠r. Micah Rueber, associate professor of history and coordinator of general and university studies, and Donovan Brownlee, a junior Pre-Law/Legal studies and Government and Politics double major, have been named 91快播鈥檚 honorees for the 32nd Annual Higher Education Appreciation Day-Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) program.

Supported by the corporate community and coordinated by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, HEADWAE was established by the Mississippi Legislature to recognize outstanding students and faculty in Mississippi's colleges and universities.

Rueber, who has taught at MVSU since 2012, expressed how honored he is to represent The Valley.

鈥淚 am very grateful to be chosen from among my very talented colleagues, and I really appreciate the opportunity to represent MVSU,鈥 he said.听

Brownlee shared that he is honored to be nominated for the award.

鈥淏eing chosen is proving to me that I am progressing in the right direction to achieve my goals,鈥 he said. 鈥淎bsolutely none of this would be possible without my strong support system. This consists of mock trial coaches, teammates, my uncle鈥攚ho is like a brother to me, my girlfriend, countless phone calls to my mom and knowing that I have two little sisters that look up to me really pushes me to reach my potential.鈥澨

The 32nd Annual HEADWAE program is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at the Jackson Marriott Hotel. The event鈥檚 activities include honorees鈥 recognition by political and corporate groups, educators from public and independent Mississippi Association of听Colleges听补苍诲听Universities (MAC) member institutions and others who value and support excellence in higher education.

Honorees are invited to tour the State Capitol where they are welcomed by legislative officials, followed by a recognition and awards luncheon program made possible by the support and generosity of Mississippi's corporate community.
