The 91¿ì²¥ Education Department recently hosted the Fall 2023 Educators Rising Conference. The Educators Rising Program is a national initiative to recruit and train teachers. Over 200 students, along with school sponsors from 17 schools from Mississippi, participated in the Conference. For many, it was their first time on the MVSU campus.
91¿ì²¥ is experiencing a network outage with its campus telephone service and internet. The university experienced a power surge on Tuesday that damaged critical network components. Crews are currently working to repair the issues. The MVSU Information Technology Office and other strategic solution partners are working to assist in getting the university network up and running.
91¿ì²¥ is excited to announce the kickoff of its 2024-2029 Strategic Planning initiative beginning in November 2023. The initiative will help to outline a bold new vision for the university over the next five years.
Following a year with record enrollment decline across the country, the question on the minds of many higher education professionals was, will college enrollment rebound for the 2023-2024 academic year?
For 91¿ì²¥ (MVSU), that question was a resounding "YES" as the university experienced a 16.9-percent increase in its fall enrollment numbers, reporting 2,196 students compared to the 1,879 students enrolled in the Fall of 2022.
September 18 — 91¿ì²¥ is proud to be named a Fulbright Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Institutional Leader for 2023. Each year, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) recognizes the decisive engagement of select HBCUs with the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program.

91¿ì²¥ (MVSU) graduates Lillian Matthews-Hollins, and Linda Matthews-Wilson recently celebrated their 50th-year high school reunion in March, which was a great deal for the twin sisters who were not expected to live long after birth.
Each year, 91¿ì²¥ (MVSU) takes a musical trip that connects the past to the present during its B.B. King Day Symposium at MVSU in honor of the legendary blues musician.
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the symposium will celebrate its ninth year and highlight the "Origins of the Blues" in the R.W. Harrison Sports Complex. The B.B. King Recording Studio, The B.B. King Museum, and Delta Interpretive Center sponsor the symposium.
91¿ì²¥ held its Fall 2023 Faculty and Staff Orientation on Monday, August 14, in the R.W Harrison Complex. Faculty and staff were informed of the university’s values and expectations for the upcoming academic year during the event.
91¿ì²¥ is excited to announce the hiring Byron Cartlidge as the new University Police Chief.
Cartlidge, a native of Greenville, MS., has 15 years of experience in law enforcement and has served as a captain with the university police over the past four and a half years. He replaces Xavier Redmond, who retired in June.
