After an extensive search, 91�첥 (MVSU) is excited to announce the hiring of Melton Harvey, II., as the school’s new Director of University Bands. Harvey will step into the new role on May 15, 2022.

The Office of Academic Affairs at 91�첥 is excited to announce Dr. Lin Knutson as the 2021-2022 Humanities Teacher of the Year.

“I feel honored, humbled, and valuable to the university for being named Teacher of the Year by the Mississippi Humanities Council. This award allowed me to reflect on teaching and its importance,” said Knutson.

91�첥’s Mathematics, Computer, and Information Science (MCIS) Department is one of seven Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and three National Research Laboratories which include, Lawrence-Livermore (LLNL), Brookhaven (BNL), and National Renewable Energy (NREL) to develop the AI-CyS research partnership at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

The Teacher Education Department at 91�첥 recently held its first-ever virtual meet and greet. Acting Department Chairperson Dr. Theresa Dumas, Dr. Jeanne Dubard, and Mr. Daryl Gates spearheaded the event.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. Feb. 28, 2022 – FedEx Logistics, Inc., a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) announced its deepened commitment to 91�첥 (MVSU) with a new $100,000 scholarship endowment funded by FedEx Cares, the company’s global community engagement program.

The Women in Higher Education—Mississippi Network (WHEMN) held its 2022 conference from February 17-18, 2022, in Oxford, MS, and 91�첥's Dr. Sharon Freeman received the 2022 WHEMN Leadership award. Dr. Freeman serves as the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

The WHEMN Conference is a time for women to come together and support the network's mission, which is to identify, develop, advance, and support women in higher education in Mississippi.
