91¿ì²¥ is a certified National collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Institution. As such, student athletes must have their initial-eligibility status determined only by the NCAA clearinghouse. Athletic scholarships may be granted to first-time freshmen, and two-year college transfers who meet the NCAA requirements for initial eligibility certification. In addition, they must also meet the admission requirements as determined by 91¿ì²¥ in order to be granted an athletic scholarship. Applicants for this scholarship must be recommended by their high school coach; register with the NCAA clearinghouse and complete a student-release form; and be interviewed/accepted by a representative of the University from the athletic sport in which they are seeking scholarship assistance. Scholarships are available in eighteen (18) sports which include: basketball (men (M) and women (W), tennis (M and W), golf (M and W); Softball (W); six sports in track (3-M and 3-W); volleyball (W); baseball (M); bowling (W); football (M); and soccer (W). Athletic scholarship awards are dependent upon availability of funds and are subject to prorating. The MississippiÌýValleyÌýStateÌýUniversity Foundation (General) Scholarship awards a number of annual scholarships to deserving students through a discretionary fund.
